Thanks, that was a good article. I got some ideas from it! I always get confused about whether I need to take insurance from the rental and it's always sky-high. The other idea I liked there was taking pictures of the car before you leave their office so you can show them if they try to say you scratched up the car. Feels...

This looks like a 1955 Ford sedan. Does it have some type of lights on top of the rear fenders? I don't believe I have seen that before.

Re: Making Connections For Connecting Flights

The time should work, since Delta and Air France are close at CDG. Your NY flight, whether it's operated by Delta or Air France, will arrive at Terminal 2E, which serves international routes. You'll be guided/herded to the Immigration queue to enter the Schengen area. Depending on your status with your airline, they may give you a voucher for the SkyPriority lane that moves faster. Once you're through, that's it for passports, because your flight to Vienna is an inter-Schengen (domestic)...

Re: Travel insurance recommendations?

Hi Animaniac Too! Travel insurance is not for everyone, but whenever I travel overseas now I buy it (mostly because our parents are old and frail and we never know when we might need to cancel a trip). It does add to the cost of a trip, about 5% or so, but if you're going to a remote place I think it's definitely worth buying. The point in purchasing travel insurance is to buy a policy that will pay you when you file a legitimate claim. Anyone will be glad to collect your insurance money,...

Does it actually make sense to hire a car for travelling around Delhi itself? Taxis, tuk-tuks, or the metro might often be more sensible choices. The latter obviously has limitations in terms of the places you can reach easily, but at least you don't get stuck in Delhi's horrendous traffic!

I'm also glad this worked out for you. I only buy trip cancellation/emergency coverage for expensive trips like when I'm overseas. I take the small risk domestically and don't get it because I can afford those losses more easily than the cost of overseas airfare, etc. Besides our own health, my wife and I both have aged parents and most policies cover emergencies relating to them. Generally a good policy costs about 5% of the value of what you insure. I usually buy with TravelGuard. The one...
