Wildlife safaris are generally conducted at dawn and dusk, when animals are most active and your chance of seeing them is optimized. During the heat of day most animals go into the bush and rest.
(scrambled eggs anyone?)
For morning safaris you usually get up when it's dark, dress quickly, grab a cup of hot tea or coffee and a biscuit, and head out for 2-3 hours, returning later for breakfast and a few hours of leisure time. One morning our guide and driver surprised us. Instead of returning us to the lodge, they stopped on an open part of the delta, put on these aprons and hats, set up a table, stove and started cooking us a hot breakfast.
It was one of the most memorable morning meals I've ever had. Tasty, warm food while sitting in the middle of beautiful scenic Africa. How can one go wrong?
