Re: Irish Ferries cancels schedule for new ship
The Ferries provide an overnight stop on your journey to France and Spain. Leaving in the evening and landing at dawn near to your destination. Many tickets include a cabin for 4 people for the family. Or First Class recliner seats in economy. Many travellers still hate the thought of flying and keep the ferry alternative alive and thriving.

With my self-limited exposure to Ryanair cabin crews, what comes to mind is a recollection of not the most sophisticated of flight attendants. I'm not sure a new uniform is going to help.

Re: How to Sleep in the Air
For the rest of us, in "main cabin," my best helpers are loose clothing, moderate liquids before and during, avoid getting sucked into inflight entertainment. And seek your best seat: I sleep best in right-hand window seats, others have different preferences.

Sorry, DrF, but they ARE gone. The name and remaining assets will be auctioned, and there's a fair chance a website under that name will survive, but the paper version in the seatback is doomed. Here's why. First, from the airline point of view, the small fees received from SkyMall no longer match the cost of having cabin and ground crew maintain the placement. That's why Delta stopped placing it a few months ago, and others seemed poised to follow. Second, SkyMall only looks like a catalog.

Some people claim the newer generations of jet-liners, like the Boeing 787, will reduce jet lag because they allow higher humidity in the cabin and higher air pressure (more oxygen). In fact that was discussed right here on a TravelGumbo during an interview with Norwegian Air . A few more points. I try not to have more than one or two connections on any flight, especially on overseas trips (for people traveling from small cities, this can be challenging). You're quite right DrF ! Usually when I return on a long flight the cabin is like a Doctors waiting room. Coughing and sneezing and spluttering. Headache. But the Dreamliner was - a dream ! So much healthier and with the windows darkened 'til just before breakfast - most people slept well - even the babies on board

Thanks DrF. I can remember Lee Marvin as the angry young man - so it must have been a few years ago. The heat of summer in Vegas is just not nice. Must be what's meant by a "Seasoned Traveller" When we go at just the right time of year. Like the word "Posh" Port Out - Starboard Home To keep a cool cabin on a round trip to India on the sea. Yes DrF. I know camping is popular in North America. But do you drive to a site where you have a tent ready erected for you. Cooker - Lighting - Electric Fridge waiting for you ? With a swimming pool and slides and kids adventure land. There's no RV's on these camps. Caravans and cabin homes are viewable on the link provided.

I wish it were as simple as that, but it's actually not. Yes, much turbulence can be predicted and charted, but it can't all be avoided, as anyone knows who's flown as much as you and I have! Much of the minor turbulence requires only that people buckle up and wait for the captain to say it's over, but the issue here is that incidences, and severity of incidents are increasing. It's not a huge safety issue for the plane, which is built to take it. It can be serious in the cabin, especially...
