Re: How to Irk the Brits

GarryRF ·
The first thing that surprises me on this blog is how eager people are to believe any of the pure drivel that film makers produce. Yahoo send a team to London to be controversial. That's the script. They don't want to tell a story of people who are just like the folks you left behind in America. No. That's not going to grab anyone's attention. PHeymont has lived in both countries and knowingly avoids such divisive journalism. Wherever you travel in the world you find people who are giving ,...

Re: Jennifer Aniston "Nightmare " Ad Latest in Gulf vs US Airlines

I think Jennifer Aniston (the Actor) works well from a script. Jennifer Aniston (the person) is too busy counting 5 mil bucks to to have any thoughts. Crying in a Mercedes is a lot more comfortable that crying on a bicycle.

Re: Classic American Cars #1

Dave B. ·
Too easy... 1953 Chevrolet sedan. It appears to have Bel Air trim, but it's been altered. The three chrome 'teeth' have been removed from the front grille, the stainless trim around the windshield is gone and the 'Bel Air' script is missing from the rear door - plus, there are several other small changes.

Re: Classic American Cars #3

Dave B. ·
I was hoping that someone else would jump in with an ID, but I guess that's not going to happen. This one is a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan. When I first saw it, I thought it might be the other side of Car #1, as the '53 and '54 have the same body and it's easy to interchange trim. After taking a closer look, though, it is a different car (outside mirrors were the key...). As with the first two cars, all the 'letter' script appears to have been removed from this one - kinda strange, in my ...

Re: Classic American Cars #7

Dave B. ·
The side trim threw me for a loop. After I stared at it for a while, I came to the conclusion that at least part of it had been taken from a 4-door. On the 2-doors that used that type of trim, it ended near the back of the doors. 4-doors got a small additional piece for the rear doors which appears to have been added to this one. Also, the trim piece on the door doesn't taper at the back, which makes me wonder if it isn't a 4-door piece, too. My final trim note is that there is a 'script'...

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo? (#63)

Roderick Simpson ·
The clues are: 1. Deciduous not coniferous trees. 2. Sign in Latin script. 3. Cars in parking lot look German, particularly a VW Beetle (not made in Germany for many years). 4. Date of 1992 on one arm. Overall, I favour ex-communist East/Central Europe, possibly Poland.

Re: Philly's "Rocky Steps" Endangered?

Travel Rob ·
What's amazing to me, more than Rocky, was how it came about. Sylvester Stallone turned down big money for his script because Hollywood wanted it without him being Rocky. And he was broke at the time. He stuck to his guns and eventually got to star in Rocky, becoming a huge movie star. Incredible that he had that much confidence in himself. http://www.philly.com/philly/b...-could-be-Rocky.html

Here’s How Uber Customers are charged extra money that goes into the company’s pocket

The company has recently introduced ‘Upfront fares’ after suspending ‘Surge pricing’. Previously the app used to show the surge multiplier(something like 1.6x, 2.2x which means the customer has to pay 1.6 times of the actual charge) for a trip the customer is about to book which in turn varies according to the demand of the taxis in that locality.
