The best resource for good "american food" while on the road that I know of is www.roadfood.com . The website focus on quality non-chain restaurants, often mom and pop places, with good and often unique menu selections. Check it out. Not only can they help you in Colorado, they're useful throughout the USA. Just about the best tip to give someone traveling in the USA.

I have no clue on where Gumbo is, but your clue helped me discover another car company I didn't know existed! To get the comments rolling, I'm guessing it is a mining museum in the Western US- maybe Nevada or Colorado.

This has been by far TravelGumbo's most popular blog so far. Some questions we had answered from followers. Thanks! The address of the field was 13155 North Broadway, Cortez, Colorado. According to custom rod and restoration, the bulk of the property was sold and he just took o r moved the last of the cars. So good PHeymont took the photos in the fields heyday!

We are west of Denver in Morrison, Colorado. It is always fun to go out to Dinosaur Ridge to see the dinosaur tracks. They have a bus and some really good guides. Sometimes, we make a day of hiking at Red Rocks.

While not a beer fan I did once live in Golden, Colorado within smelling distance of Coors when the wind was blowing my direction. Which it obviously was not the day I decided that was the house for me. But I'll concede, it could have been worse. Great pictures! quite different from the Upper Delaware (my only rafting experience). I noticed the old water chute in one picture...what was it used for? It looks a bit like the wooden aqueduct we saw a few years ago in Colorado that moved water along the edge of a canyon to a work site.
