That is all part of Thanksgiving. Bad weather and lots of delays for Thanksgiving Eve are a long standing holiday tradition. Somehow, the flight delays always seem to happen on the way to grandma's house on Wednesday, not on the return trip on Sunday to go back to work.

In the spirit of one-upmanship, same number of passengers, bigger plane, I was once one of 2 passengers on a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to San Francisco. It wasn't the advantage I thought it might be as all the flight attendants just went to sleep, so no service rather than personal service. It was a long time ago but memorable enough that I still remember the airline.

Welcome, Gulliver, and two weeks will give you a nice break. I'm not sure where you're traveling from. Easiest and cheapest place for a warm break from North America is to head south, especially to Florida or the Caribbean, or from the West coast to Hawaii or Arizona. But the south of Europe is also quite nice this time of year. Italy, Sicily, Greece are places I'd consider going, depending on what interests you and where you've traveled before. Do any of these interest you? Are you...

Well done DrY! They're all good photos, but my favorites are the plane flying into the sunrise (top one), and those scary storm clouds, which I love to watch!

I too, love the scary clouds. And frosty winter day, too, almost monochromatic, a vintage feel. Good work, Dr.Y.

My first thought, looking at this morning's picture, was how much it has the feel of Impressionist painting, and in particular some of these scenes by Monet (above) and Pisarro (below). For fog, of course, no accident that two of them were painted in London!

Gotta admit, I never planned to be out in bad weather; all our bad-weather camping memories are of sitting around together huddled in the tent playing cards with the kids and eating cereal out of the box. Maybe we should have gone out and gotten wet!
