Kirsten, great piece! I had very similar thoughts when I saw the Salmon swimming upstream in Alaska. While it was truly an amazing sight, the Salmon were so beat up it definitely brought out mixed emotions.

Peggy's Cove is a beautiful place, even when it's not sunny. The piper sounds even better in the fog.

Oh my goodness...I would be proud to capture even one of these photos and you captured the kingfishers so many times!! My favorite is the kingfisher shaking the fish and the water spraying out; what a fantastic collection of photos!

Agree with Garry and Marilyn. A wonderful collection of photos and the ones of the kingfishers bashing the fish against a branch are among my favorites as well!

I love the sights, the sounds, the colours and - yes - the smells of a market. Finding a new fruit or vegetable is amazing. Usually in a country I'm visiting. I found your husbands likings so funny. I read it to my wife but I couldn't finish a sentence for laughing ! Maybe he's a Monty Python fan ?

Re: Let's Go Shopping at Pike Place Market - Seattle, WA

DrFumblefinger ·
Great visit to a great market! I try to get to the Pike's Place market almost every time I visit Seattle. You are right, Samantha, there's nothing magical about the fish being thrown around. Everytime someone buys a salmon, it sails from one employee to another to another, and they are remarkably good at it! So if you want to see the action, buy yourself one of these great fish. This is actually a very well known feature of the market and the salmon can be frozen and shipped most anywhere in...

Re: Marsaxlokk, Malta

George G. ·
One of my all time favorite destinations. So much history, excellent Mediterranean cuisine, and fantastic weather. Love touring Gozo. Recommend the Hilton Malta in St. Julian's. Great service, ambiance and food. Also, recommend a light lunch with Bruschetta Matese and local white wine at the Raffael Restaurant on their terrace overlooking Spinola Bay.

Thanks for this excellent post. I lived in Crail for my second year at the University of St. Andrews. From your photos, it looks as pretty as I remember it from 50+ years ago, although the weather seems better than I recall, as most of the university year was during the winter. As you show, there's a lot more to St Andrews and the Fife coast than golf and the University.
