HI Garry, I am not really sure. However we were pretty high up (over 8000 feet) so I think it probably does most of the year. I will let you know if we go back sometime this summer

Most of these high altitude lakes remain frozen most of the year. While it's further north, I am very familiar with Lake Louise in the Alberta Rockies. While at only 5200 ft above sea level, it receives a heavy snow fall and the ice remains on the lake until well into June, returning in the early fall. Hiking in the area is really limited to June, July and early September (unless you hike slogging through snow and slush)

One of our sister agencies called the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence Center was located in Fort Detrick in Frederick Maryland. I visited AFMIC a number of times and your photos of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine brought back memories. I have not toured Frederick village itself, but your story has prompted me to put it on my list of places to visit.

The bank that Morris was associated with was the Bank of North America. Bank of America originated in the early 20th c. in California. Poor old Morris spent several of his last years in debtors' prison and was buried in his brother-in-law's family plot without ceremony. Wikipedia: "Robert Morris holds the curious distinction as the only Founding Father whose house is a national memorial, but his life is not interpreted at the site."

I keep a Video Log in my mind of all those "perfect moments" when you say to yourself " Hey ! Life doesn't get any better than this" I often re run those moments to myself on a winters day - usually catching 40 winks on a Sunday afternoon. Priceless !

I've looked at the three sites (which all appear to show the same boat), but I think none of them is this one, unless a lot has happened in the years since I took the picture. The roofline is different, and this one lacks the steel stovepipe the other one shows. I'm fairly sure the spot where I took the picture was well out of town, but of course, boats can move...

The roof line is different because your photo is taken from the opposite end. There are so many other distinctive details, the style of mooring for instance, as well as the dock, and the missing stovepipe is behind leaves in yours. I'm also somewhat familiar with the area, having lived twice in Sausalito. I know of no other houseboats on the way to Muir Woods. Give up.

Hi Travel Luver I apologize for the lateness of this response. In answer to your question, I unfortunately did not see the monument lit up at night...my travel schedule didn't permit it. I last visited the LACMA about 10 years or so ago, when they had a special King Tut exhibit. When I lived in LA I enjoyed going to the museum from time to time. It has a great collection and is well run, but after the Getty complex in Brentwood was built, I preferred visiting it because of the sheer beauty of its buildings, landscapes and views. I don't ever recall seeing that roof but my eyes might have been glazed over as they often are after a day of museum visiting. A nice puzzle and...
