March 14, 2018: Meet Dexter

Dexter is our mini-bull.  We bought him just because he's super cute!  He weighs in at about 1200 pounds (half the size of our other bulls).  His hobbies including fighting bulls twice his size, posing for pictures, eating grass and being taken for walks.  He's mainly a pet  but there have been a few calves that have been awfully small (and hairy) which makes us supicious some of his head-butting seems to have drawn the attention of at least some of the ladies.

He lives just south of Calgary near Spruce Meadows.

Hi Garry,

I think I can answer most of your questions.  Dexter is fully grown.  He does well in winter and does not need special shelter.  The same is true of most cattle in Alberta.  They develop a thick warm coat that protects them from the cold.  Unlike most bulls, which have a very foul temper, Dexter is sweet natured with his humans.  Perhaps we'll need to ask Dr Jon to share a video of him taking Dexter for a walk.
