No, that was for two. With some guilt, I admit that we finished it, and were served some extra scones as well. A luxurious afternoon, immediately preceded by a walking tour of Marx’s London, and followed by a long walk after to pay for the calories.

That Karl Marx gets more than his share of criticism. Very interesting read though. Did you know he fought to get a 12 month guarantee when you bought something new. Quite a novel idea at the time. Another Marxist ideology.

Unfortunately there are a large number of people who dont like "Concrete Jungles" including myself. It's not a criticism of the place in question. Just a gut reaction to man's ability to deface nature. I'm sure North Dakota is a wonderful place to visit with parks and wildlife. Sorry Samantha. x

Looks like a wonderful setting to enjoy the Christmas Holidays. But to get into the European style of celebrating you should extend your Christmas through to New Year and enjoy 10 days of goodwill to all men !

This "small cluster of buildings" is Carter, Wyoming, founded by my great great grandfather, Richard Henry Carter. The title image is the Carter Hotel, built by him at the time the Union Pacific Railroad came through Wyoming in the late 1860s, the tracks just across the road. It became more family home than business, my grandmother lived there as a young child.

Thanks for your comments, Marilyn and PortMoresby. I didn't look inside. A lot of older buildings like this are boarded up, and many aren't safe to explore. Fascinating that you recognized the place, PortMoresby! Yes, there was a train track just across the street from your ancestor's home. I didn't see a name to the village, but it definitely seems to be Carter, WY. If I'd known, I'd taken a few more photos of the place to share.
