Re: The (Long and Winding) Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia
Some wonderful pix of Australia that bring back so many memories of my visits Islandman I could look at those rock formations for hours. Looking into a million years of history. Australia is certainly like nowhere else on Earth and every day is a fascinating adventure. Certainly is a well written comprehensive Blog you've presented. I've enjoyed it. Thanks.

Re: Fort De Soto Park, Florida – A Tropical Utopia
A truly beautiful place! I imagine the kayaking and fishing are quite good. Are there any alligators about/ Is it a first come, first serve campground, or are reservations allowed?

No worries about running across any gators, they like fresh water and Ft. DeSoto is salt water, but there are sharks! Reservations are recommended at the campground, especially during the winter and spring months. The summer...

Re: Fort De Soto Park, Florida – A Tropical Utopia
This is a beautiful beach. Is it a daft question to ask if there are alligators around? I'm Australian, and our more northern beaches get huge crocodiles as well as sharks, so I'm not quite sure if the same goes for alligators in Florida!

Hi Jessica! While it is not impossible, it is quite rare to see a gator at this beach, I only know of one time that a gator was ever spotted there, and that was only a 3.5 ft long one. It is much more likely that you'll see a shark before seeing a gator

Wow, what a fun destination! And surprisingly not at all busy on the beaches for such a lovely place. Mac, it seems you've come home!

Re: Down by the seaside English style....
I took a walk once along the SW Coast Path, Exmouth to Weymouth, over several days and saw a wonderful variety of English seaside towns and countryside. Unfortunately, obviously, for me, I caught a bus on the edge of Weymouth and stayed instead in Dorchester. Although a very nice town (nice walk to Hardy's Cottage), I see now what I missed. A perfect excuse, as if I needed one, to go back. Thanks Mac.
