Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#211)

Gumbo leaves behind the fascinating world of astronomy and science in Jaipur and goes on a trek.  The journey is shrouded by clouds and mist at the moment, but where we are and what we are seeking should become clear in the coming days.  The puzzler wants everyone trying to solve our mystery to know that we are in a UNESCO World Heritage site which we would like you to identify, and what we are specifically looking for is the name of the geologic formation that is exceptionally well preserved in this region.  Sound confusing?  I don't think it will be for long....

Progressively revealing (and easier) clues will be forthcoming daily to help you solve the puzzle...Keep checking in, observing, suggesting, reading and commenting along with your fellow readers.

THE RULES

  1. Share your suggestions, hints, observations and discussions with others by posting them here as comments...
  2. If you absolutely know what and where it is....please give others some time to work on it  before you pounce.  Email us your answer to tgsuggestions@gmail.com We acknowledge everyone who correctly answers the puzzle when the 'reveal' is posted on Monday in the order these answers are received.
  3. To leave a comment, you need to be a member...but that's free and easy.  Just click HERE

We need you to identify where Gumbo's visiting, and the name of the geologic formation. Good luck!

The treasure of this area is twofold.  It is in the magnificent scenery of these mountains, but especially in what's under your feet.  Let's look around and see if we find what's special here....
