Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#134)

WITW134 (2)

Normally on Where in World is TravelGumbo, it's hard to figure out what the building is. This time it's as clear as day. Only with so many similar lighthouses around, which one is it?  Lighthouses always seem to have an interesting history and this one is no exeption. What happened here was followed around the world.

More clues to follow! Have fun, play along and see the rules below.

Today's clue will be the biggest clue before Monday's reveal, but it's not a photo. It's a little history. It's not the kind of history you might expect, though. What makes this lighthouse so famous is that it was involved in some aviation history. The pilots did not succeed in what they wanted to do, but they were still viewed as heroes worldwide. And what the pilots were able to accomplish was quite an achievement. Their accomplishment still has an impact on many flights today. So history and aviation buffs, does that help? I'll add another photo before the reveal, so stay tuned.

If you want a thing done, ask a busy man.
