The Robin and the Totem Pole, Idaho

Among the items I've collected over the years is an assortment of Pacific Northwest native art.  This includes a totem pole, about five foot tall, carved from a cedar log.  The pole sits in front of our home and recently became the nesting site of a robin.  I didn't want to get too close to the bird when taking these photos, as it upset her, but you get the idea.

The nest was quickly built, and the mother robin was very attentive to it.  One of the few times she flew away (presumably to eat and drink), I took a few photos of its interior.  Three lovely eggs were being incubated.

Hopefully this story will have a happy ending, and we'll hear the peep of little birds soon.
