Sweden's disgusting museum finds a home

The Disgusting Food Museum, up to now a series of exhibitions with a nomadic existence has now found a permanent home where it can offer up not only exhibits of food many people will find disgusting, but also samples.

Of course, as they say "One man's meat is another man's poison," and not all visitors to the new museum in the Caroli shopping center in Malmo will find the exhibits well... distasteful. But if you're adventurous, you can taste crickets, fruit bats (below), Swedish fermented herring, Vegemite and more.

The museum says that "Sharing a meal is the best way to turn strangers into friends," and invites visitors to "challenge their notions of what is and what isn’t edible." Last year, its founder told TheLocal.se that "We need to question our ideas of disgust if we're going to consider some of the more environmentally-friendly sources of protein, like insects."

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
