  1. Pipeline, Oahu

Getting the name from the reef break that runs along its North Shore, Pipeline is known for the massive wave breaks that occur where they break on the shallows of the reef. The Hawaii Pipeline is an internationally recognised surf destination due to it having some of the most massive swells in the world. It can also be a dangerous place to surf, so someone should check this spot out only if they are an experienced surfer.

  1. Taghazout, Morocco

If you wants a more laid back and less crowded surfing experience, Taghazout is the place the be. A small fishing village off the southwest coast of Morocco, it is rarely ever crowded. The ocean intensity also varies throughout the year, offering waves for the matured surfer from September-April, and waves for the newbie or less experienced the rest of the year.

  1. Huntington Beach, California

Owning the title of “Surf City, CA,” Huntington Beach is frequently visited spot for surfers of all levels. Although the fear of overcrowding comes with a popular surf destination, with its 8.5-mile stretches of beach, Huntington Beach has more than enough room for every surfer who visits its golden shores.

  1. Les Cavaliers, Anglet, France

Powerful breaks and beautiful landscape makes Cavaliers an ideal spot for surf competitions and events, including the WSL World Tour. With its temperate climate and soft, sandy beaches, it is the perfect spot for any avid surfers who are looking to bring their kids along for the ride.

  1. Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia.

Surfers won’t need to wait for certain times of the year to get varying levels of swells at this beach. Split almost in half, the northern end of the beach experiences only mild swells, receiving a 4 rating (with ten as the most dangerous) and is the perfect location for a smooth ride. At the same time, though, the southern side is rated a 7 due to its well-known rip current, “Backpackers’ Rip” due to its closeness to a bus stop and a frequent stop for tourists and visitors.

Pro tip: Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins as they frequent this beach!

  1. Bundoran, Ireland

While Ireland may not be the first place one thinks of for a surf destination, the shores of Bundoran are known as a surfer’s “cold water Eden.” At the southwestern edge, there are almost constant swells, offering barrels and A-frames alike for every surfing level. The town has even grown to embrace the surf culture, often offering discounts and extra accommodations for surfers who visit in-season which runs from September-May. It never gets super hot there, so make sure to pack a wetsuit!

  1. Ulu Watu, Bali

Mostly famous for having the oldest Hindu temple in all of Bali, Ulu Watu offers professional-level waves year round. Catch some waves while being overlooked by the Ulu Watu temple from its vantage point atop a cliff that sits along the beach.

  1. Tavarua Island, Fiji

Tavarua is a small, heart-shaped island in Fiji and has gained notoriety for having some of the most famous breaks in the surfing world. With the fitting name “Cloudbreak,” it is located in a restricted area just about a mile off the island. Surfers are only able to experience it’s power if they check in at the Tavarua Surf Resort. Although it can feel unfair that it isn’t open to the public, jumping through the hoops to get there will be well worth it when one experiences the massive 30-foot or more waves with the option of tow-in surfing.
