Now you can make airline food at home!

If you really want to.

The cuisine that has spawned a million jokes must have some real fans, because United Airlines is publishing a cookbook of its inflight recipes.

Forty of the book's recipes come from the airline's chef consultants who have created the food for its front-of-the-plane Polaris service, but there are also recipes for the food served in international economy class. The ones everyone eats and everyone gripes about.

The book, which is a fundraiser for The Trotter Project, an organization that provides culinary and education programs for restaurant industry students. If you'd like a copy, the United Polaris Cookbook sells for $29.99 on United's website.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
