New York gets a chocolate museum and classes

Jacques Torres, well-known as a gourmet chocolatier, has turned over part of his Manhattan premises to open Choco-Story, a chocolate museum that will also offer 'experiences' and classes.

The museum, which traces 5,500 years of chocolate history, was created by Eddy van Belle, who has also created chocolate exhibits in Prague, Paris, Brugge and Uxmal, Mexico.

To tell the story, the museum uses videos, reading material, chocolate pots and grinders and other equipment. At the end, visitors can sign up for hands-on classes and experiences working with chocolate; the classes will rotate different topics.

But Torres has a last word: "I don't recommend you guys make chocolate at home," Torres jokes. "Buy them from me ... then I can retire."

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
