Merry Christmas from Knott's Berry Farm

There are a few things I miss about living in California (besides my family and friends of course) walking along the Seal Beach Pier, watching my Angels, and going to my favorite amusement park Knott’s Berry Farm. It has always had a pull on me, and I still love it. I miss being able to go to such things as Knott’s Scary Farm in October. However, the thing I really miss is Knott’s Merry Farm in December.  It has been too many years since we have done this. For those of you who haven't been able to make it before, here is the scoop on Knott’s Merry Farm.

KMF RingersAs they say on their website: Joy is in season at Knott’s Merry Farm! Celebrate the holidays with the Merry Christmas, Snoopy ice show, a Calico Christmas with a crafts village and festive food. Each night, thousands of sparkling lights dance to the beat of holiday music while snow gently falls in Ghost Town November 19-January 8.

KMF CraftsThe Christmas Crafts Village is located in Ghost Town which is transformed into a shopping wonderland filled with dozens of local artisans selling their unique gifts. Can’t-miss highlights of the Village include artist demonstrations of chainsaw wood carving, pottery sculpting, and elegant glass blowing. This year entrance to the village is FREE Monday-Thursday November 21st to December 8th.  They state that Knott’s Berry Farm admission is required for entry into the village for all other dates. Still, it’s a great deal and a lot of fun to walking around, seeing the exhibits and getting into the holiday spirit.  Heck, you might even find that perfect gift.

KMF-SnoopyWhile I enjoy the Christmas Crafts Village, what I really looked forward to was Snoopy on Ice. When I was a kid, I loved Snoopy. I couldn’t get enough of him. This was always the best part of going to Knott’s Merry Farm. In the Charles M. Schulz Theatre, Snoopy, the Peanuts, and a cast of world class ice skaters perform in the spectacular ice show, Merry Christmas, Snoopy! During the show, filled with whimsy and spectacular skating, Snoopy enjoys all of the best parts of the season, including trimming the Christmas tree, awaiting Santa’s arrival, and attending the festive Christmas Ball!   Check out their website for more information if you are interested in seeing the show. It is always entertaining and the kids love it!

KMF Santa

If the kids haven’t seen Santa yet, bring them to the Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town. This is the home of Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the holiday season. Here, the young and the young at heart can share their wish lists with jolly ol’ St. Nick and take home a picture of the occasion. Indulge in holiday delights like Santa’s homemade cookies, eggnog, winter wine, craft beer, and hot chocolate tastings, and more. It is also the perfect place for Christmas card photos from Knott's Merry Farm.

KMF-CabinOver in Camp Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus and Lucy invite you to dance, sing and join in on the holiday fun in the live show, Christmas Time is Here Charlie Brown, in the Camp Snoopy Theatre. After the show, head right next door to the Peanuts Meet and Greet Area to take a picture with your favorite character. Another Kodak moment, lol.

scroogeI had never seen a live performance of A Christmas Carol, but last year I was able to see the classic Dickens’ tale “A Christmas Carol” which was brought back to the stage at the Bird Cage Theatre during Knott's Merry Farm. This story shows a glimpse into the life of a covetous old sinner named Ebenezer Scrooge, “Bah Humbug!” Scrooge is a mean old man who only cares about his money and success. On Christmas Eve night, Scrooge encounters a visit from his old, deceased business partner, as well as the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. On Christmas morning, after an adventure with the Christmas spirits, Scrooge awakens to find a new Christmas joy filling his spirit.

KMF TrainIf you rather see the Gift of The Magi, they have that too. Enjoy a touching Christmas production of “The Gift of the Magi,” a classic, twist-ending story, written by O’ Henry. “The Gift of the Magi” features a young married couple with a heart of gold. Having no money to spend on Christmas gifts, the couple secretly decides to sell their most prized possession to give the other a special, secret gift. Even though their financial burden makes it so they cannot give a Christmas gift, their love and sacrifice make for the greatest gift of all.

KMF Sign2Whatever you choose to see and do, Knott's Merry Farm will have something that will fill your heart with joy and happiness during this festive and reflective season. I really hope to make it and update this post with what we were able to see and do. If you go, please come back and post a comment. I would love to hear about your experience. Merry Christmas!!!

Looks like a lot of fun...in a place without the snowy weather we get in the north. We were just in Chile, where it is summer, but Santa Claus is everywhere...along with American carols! 'Bad' weather just can't stop the holidays!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations

Your post brought back many wonderful memories of past visits to Knott's.  We also lived in California years ago (and have since moved away, as have so many) and made a point of visit Knott's every Holiday season because our kids enjoyed it so much.  The place is busy, but not nearly as crowded as Disneyland and the admission much more reasonable (probably about half or even less).  The park is wonderfully decorated and there were unexpected treats for the kids -- their first toboggan ride down a snowy hill was at Knotts (with machine made snow, of course).  A favorite of mine was the Snoopy ice show -- Ice Capades quality and lots of fun.  And at the end of the day, traditional fried chicken dinner at Mrs. Knotts' restaurant.

Thanks very much for sharing this experience, Samanatha.

Thank you all for the comments. Makes me wish I was able to go this year. Then you have to go and mention Mrs Knott's Country Kitchen, lol. Now I am wanting some of those hot little biscuits with Boysenberry jam, yum Oh well, maybe next year, lol. Have a Merry Christmas everyone.
