I enjoy Farmer's Markets and stopping at small road-side produce stands and visit them whenever I can on my travels. It's here you'll get the freshest, highest quality fruit and other food-types.
We were returning to Columbo from a visit to the beaches of Southern Sri Lanka. Our driver, a practical man, asked it if would be okay for us to stop at some of these stands along the way. Apparently, the price of produce here was less than half of what it would have been in Colombo, and he wanted to stock up before returning home. Of course we didn't mind, and he bought a lot for himself and his neighbors (possibly running a side business back home). These photos were taken at one of these stops.
I can still taste that papaya. Fresh, ripe, with lime juice over it -- impossible to beat! And if thirsty, a fresh glass of watermelon juice!
