Garry, in summertime, it certainly would be hot and steamy, but we were fortunate to be there in temperate November. In pre-airconditioning days, many of those who could would retreat to the mountains for the summer...

Flipping through a copy of Architectural Digest today, I came across a photo of Drayton Hall and an online feature, " 9 Grand Antebellum Homes Rich in History and Stunning Design ". Also included was Magnolia Plantation, visited by the Gumbo Gang and written up by PHeymont, here .
