 I find Pelicans odd-looking but interesting birds.  These are Brown Pelican, the state bird of Louisiana.   Brown pelicans are listed as threatened, though they have been making a comeback since the banning of DDT in the USA....

While in New Orleans for New Years Eve, Samantha and her husband took a road trip to Baton Rouge to check out the Louisiana State Capitol Building. It was still decked out for Christmas. So beautiful..
