West Virginia pushes waterfall trail

West Virginia, which has over 200 waterfalls, is publicizing a scenic hiking trail that takes in 29 of the best across the state, including cascades in state parks and in New River Gorge National Park.

State Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby's announcement pointed out that "Breathtaking waterfalls are everywhere in our 1.5 million acres of parks and public lands, making this trail a must-experience activity for adventure-seekers this summer. From simple boardwalks to hilly treks, we want to make your efforts to experience our falls worth every mile."

New River Gorge is one of the newest National Parks, focused on a river that is, ironically, one of the geologically oldest in North America. Its falls include both towering narrow falls and wide cascades.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
