Ultimate thrill ride? Zip-lining the Eiffel Tower

The world's most famous tower became the world's most unusual amusement ride this week as 100 lucky winners got to zip-line from the 2nd floor of the tower to the end of the Champs de Mars park.

Perrier, the French bubble-water company, set up the zip-line as a publicity event for Perrier and the French Open tennis tournament held in Paris this week. The tie-in is that the zip-liners moved at about 90km/h (56 mph), the speed of a tennis serve.

The 100 riders, representing a wide selection of ages and genders, were selected by a lottery.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
