U.S., Mexico agree to Open the Skies...

Under existing agreements, the U.S. and Mexico have limited the number of airlines allowed to serve any two U.S. and Mexico city pairs. Most have been limited to two U.S. and two Mexican airlines, some to one.

Now, under a new agreement to take effect Jan. 1, 2016, those limits will be gone, opening up more competition (and maybe some price bargains). DETAILS from USA Today.
