When we think of jetting off to soak up some good ole American culture, we may think of the bright lights of New York or Las Vegas, we may consider lounging on the beach in Florida or California, or we might even give a second thought to living the cowboy and cowgirl lifestyle on a ranch in Texas. Now. Indianapolis. State capital of Indiana. Not the first place you may think to visit. It doesn’t get much attention in the news (the most famous person from Indianapolis is arguably the now retired talk show host David Letterman). Here’s why you should visit anyway.
Get around using Blue Indy
Indianapolis is going green. Blue Indy is a car share company that rents out small electric cars at a low price and offers GUARANTEED FREE PARKING in the city. Check out all things “war”
Once you have transport, you need something to see. Start with Monument circle, complete with ornate statues representing the civil war. Next, try the War Memorial Plaza and museum for a slice of Revolutionary American history. Dotted around the city, you will also find memorials to World War Two, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
And if all else fails…
If war memorials aren’t your thing, try the Indianapolis Zoo. It is home to everything from sea life to elephants, and offers family value in the form of presentations on Orangutans and Dolphins (admission to the presentations is free, but seating is limited - so arrive early!)
