Tourism Australia adds indigenous names

Australia's official tourism authority has added a new twist to its 'Don't Go Small, Go Australia' campaign by highlighting the Indigenous names for some of Australia's most famous attractions.

"We will be dual-naming our cities and other select locations, using the current term alongside the traditional Aboriginal name," according to agency director Phillippa Harrison. The renaming plan is already rolling on Tourism Australia's social media channels.

Some of the dual names are already well-known, such as Uluru, which has been in use since the 1990s for what was known as Ayers Rock. Less well-known, but perhaps ready for the limelight are Narrm and Warrane, better known as Melbourne and Sydney.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
