Britain has 2,563 railroad stations, and one determined British couple are determined to visit them all—and they've been to over 1000, so far.
The adventure, which will result in a film documentary, is expected to take about 3 months, and was initially funded with a Kickstarter campaign to cover the estimated £10,000 cost. Actually, they've figured, if they got off the train at every stop, it would take 10 months, since there are lines where there are only a few trains a day.
They've got credential for the project: Vicki Pipe is a museum educator at the London Transport Museum, which will be the eventual home of the footage. And Geoff Marshall holds the current speed record for passing through all the stations and lines of the London Underground.
The project started when the couple were looking for a way to cheer up after a bad 2016: “David Bowie died, Alan Rickman died, Victoria Wood died, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse Brexit and Trump happened. So we wanted something bright and wonderful to look forward to in 2017.”
