The Hotel Saskatchewan is one of Canada's grand historic Canadian Pacific Railway hotels, others including the Château Frontenac in Quebec City, the Chateau Lake Louise, and the Banff Springs Hotel. All are worth visiting and spending a night or two at. Hotel Saskatchewan is located in the heart of downtown Regina, adjoining Victoria Park.

Hotel Saskatchewan opened in 1927 after just an 11 month construction period, providing "suitable" accommodations for VIP guests to Regina such as members of the British Royal Family (Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip and the Queen Mother), and celebrities like the Rolling Stones and Justin Bieber. It's become an important part of the city's social scene. The hotel is a gathering place and is a popular venue for weddings, brunches, and celebrations.
The Hotel Saskatchewan underwent an extensive $6 million renovation within the past decade and now is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. We spent a night here when returning home from a trip to Winnipeg. The place is classy -- lovely chandeliers, fine molding, antiques, and elegant furnishings -- and the service we received was excellent.
I'm a Platinum Elite Life member with Marriott's BonVoy (takes a lot of nights to reach that status), and now am often given free upgrades when I stay at a Marriot property. It's a great perk, and this visit we were upgraded from our standard room to a spacious suite, the Buckingham Suite.

We enjoyed a great breakfast at the Hotel Saskatchewan Dining Room --wonderfully prepared food and one of the best waitresses we've had in years.
