Strolling in Siena

Piazza Salimbeni

This week I am offering a short photo-essay. After four days in Florence, I traveled to city of Siena. This small hill-top town in Tuscany is one of my Italian favorites. It has a fascinating history, which I will explore in the next two posts, but let's start with a stroll around the center of town. I arrived on a Monday afternoon, around 3 pm, and headed straight for the Campo, Siena's Main square.

After a brief rest back at my hotel, I ventured out at sunset for dinner. I headed to Ristorante Taverna di Cecco. This wonderful restaurant offered a range of Tuscan fare. I opted for the Boccocini di Vitelo alla Sense (Veal stew). It was wonderful.

On the way home I took the opportunity to take some night photos of Siena.

Nice photo essay!  I'm curious -- do you use a tripod for your night photos, or just hand held?

Thank you. I usually just take photos by hand at around 3200 iso, 1/30s and as low an f-stop as it will shoot. Then I use lightroom to adjust, and their denoise AI is wonderful.
