Several of Rome's parks, which have been underfunded and overworked for years will now benefit from a €12 million 'restyling' program announced by Mayor Virginia Raggi.
The money will not cover any major projects or catch up very far on overdue maintenance, but the mayor defends it as a start. She told press "We're finally investing in the parks and historic villas of Rome, with notable sums of money and transparent tenders."
Much of the funding will go for obvious needs: fixing fences, benches and fountains and a general clean-up. There will also be some new trees, bins, security cameras and improved signage.
