Rome's Colosseum authorities have inked a deal with Hornblower Group to provide a new multi-media experience in the spaces below the floor of the ancient arena.
Hornblower, parent company of Walks and City Experiences was already one of four companies offering a Colosseum Underground tour, which started in 2011 after major renovation and reconstruction work made the under-the-floor areas accessible to visitors for the first time in many years.
The new multi-media-enhanced tour uses holographic projections to trace the route of gladiators from the Ludus Magnus training area to the Colosseum for combat. There is also a new exhibition of armor and artifacts as part of the guided tour.
