The Queen Elizabeth 2, long retired to hotel service in Dubai, is about to get a major upgrade, with more luxe facilities and fewer but larger rooms.
The iconic cruise liner, owned by a Dubai government state corporation, Dubai World, will be upgraded and managed by the Accor hotel group, which will rename it MGallery Queen Elizabeth 2.
The makeover includes reducing room count from 1300 to 447, and increasing amenities, including nine food and beverage outlets, six retail outlets, a pool, a gym and a 5620-square-metre space for outdoor events.
