Oslo 'green plan' divides residents

Car-free zones, especially in crowded city centers, have been proliferating across Europe, and Oslo, Norway is no exception. But some of it residents are taking exception to the loss of parking and the increased congestion fees for drivers who do enter the city center.

While some applaud the new installations of benches and walkways, others, especially some who live in the restricted areas, are unhappy with the limits, although they are so far not the wide-ranging complete ban originally proposed.

The affected area, about 1.9 square kilometers, is limited to taxis, vehicles for the disabled and emergency vehicles. Advocates want to extend the area. The affected area has about 5,500 residents, but 120,000 people work in the area during the day.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
