Orlando top U.S. tourism destination

A new study from the World Travel and Tourism Council confirms Orlando, Florida—no big surprise—as the largest U.S. travel and tourism destination for 2022, followed by Las Vegas.

According to the survey, compiled by Oxford Economics and sponsored by Visa, the Orlando area, rich in theme parks and more, took in over $31 billion last year from tourism, about  20%  of the city's total gross domestic product. That's $2.7 billion more than in 2019, the last pre-pandemic year.

Las Vegas, at $23 billion also passed its 2019 numbers, as did a number of large U.S. cities, including New York,, Chicago and Miami. Among the major city destinations, Orlando was the only one so far to have also grown its international visitors past 2019 levels.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
