Chuck the Channel Catfish, Selkirk

Sitting in front of two restaurants in downtown Selkirk is a gigantic catfish.  The statue of "Chuck the Channel Cat" is 33 feet high and made of fiberglass.  It was installed in 1986 and named in memory of a local sport fisherman Chuck Norquay.

Selkirk's stretch of the Red River is well knowm for its large catfish, and the town considers itself the "Catfish Capital of the World."  I enjoy spotting local landmarks like this when traveling.
