More river cruises cancelled, but some hopeful signs

Continuing problems with low water in European rivers, as described in several recent TG NewsLinks, are disrupting more cruise plans by most operators...but at least some see hope in the weather forecast, and, as an executive for Avalon cruises said, "we are all doing our best rain dances."

The low water doesn't affect all rivers or all sections; some cruises have been unaffected; others have based their passengers on a ship anchored in one port while using buses to reach nearby ports and then swapping passengers with a boat anchored on the other side of the low-water area.

For an up-to-date round-up of the situation, CruiseCritic.com is the go-to; they have posted a summary of the situation, company-by-company HERE.
