This enchanting lake is in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. It's surrounded by the highest peaks of the Black Mountains.

A four-mile circular walk will take you up along the river, revealing the dramatic glacial cirque at the top of a ridge.

The lake lies at an altitude of 1660 feet.

And Yes. The Welsh people often speak their native language. You'll find signs on the road in Welsh too.

You can drive to the village of Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire. Park up and walk across the farmland - taking care to close the gate to keep the sheep in Then walk up hill for about 2 hours. Follow the river and if you get caught by sudden snow - you can rest in the snow shelter. Not for the feint hearted. Serious hikers only need apply. Coming back down is a lot faster. Wear layers of clothing. Can be hot. Can be cold. Same day.

About 4 hours by car. No major roads go near it. Only hill farmers live there. Last population count was 210 people.

Having road signs in English and Welsh can lead to problems.

The English wording is emailed to the sign makers in England. They request it to be translated into Welsh in another email. The lower half of this sign reads "I'm sorry we're out of the office right now. Please forward any translations you need"
