On the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's 95 Theses and the start of the Protestant Reformation merchants in Wittenberg, where he lived and nailed are looking for profits with Luther-themed merchandise.
It's a year of celebrations, commemorations, exhibits and symposia all over, but for Wittenberg, it's a once-in-a-half-millenium opportunity to cash in with such diverse items as Luther pasta, Luther tea, Luther teddy bears, and the Luther Burger, seen above.
The town is seeing a big boom in visits leading up to the October anniversary; even before the official events began in April, the first quarter of the year saw business double over previous years.
