An ice shanty is a shed placed on frozen water to provide shelter for ice fishing. Most are simple but some some have electricity, beds and even heat.

In Chaleur Bay, off the shore of Bas Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada, you see a few ice shanties in winter. People fish for smelt.
