Lufthansa shuffles its brand deck

Lufthansa Group is rebranding an airline it rebranded only two years ago. Eurowings Discover will now be just Discover, with a new paint scheme and plans to boost the fleet and routes of the low-cost leisure carrier.

The new identity will make it distinct from its former brandmate, the low-cost not-necessarily-leisure carrier Eurowings, whose own identity has undergone a number of changes over the years as Lufthansa shifted its focus and folded Germanwings into it several years ago.

Discover operates two-class A320s and three-class A330s out of hubs at Frankfurt and Munich, flying to a variety of warm-weather leisure destinations. The airline will get five more A320s for a total of ten, and another A330 for a total of 13 by next year, with upgraded cabins and facilities, the airline says.

Presently, the Munich hub operates only short-haul flights, but Discover says it plans to operate long-haul flights from there by 2025.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
