June 15, 2016: Why they're called 'smart' cars...

Parking isn't easy in any big city, and London  seems one of the most difficult...but clearly, where there's a will there's a way, if your car is short enough. We've seen this one parked this way nearly every day of our stay.

They may be easy to park, but they're the last place you want to be in an accident -- which are plentiful in all cities.  I find the following photo of interest.  Seems the motorcycle fared much better than the smartcar!  So thanks, but no thanks.  I want to be surrounded by a more substantial vehicle when traveling at high speed.

The vehicle in the crash is actually not a Smart, but the point about tiny cars is true: in the late 1950s in Germany, we saw pictures of highway crashes involving the little BMW Isetta, similar in size to the Smart and just as underpowered...the results were horrific.
