JetBlue is no longer living on borrowed slots at London's Heathrow Airport, getting a set of permanent slots that may have previously belonged to Russian carrier Aeroflot, although that's unconfirmed.
Having permanent slots means the airline can operate year-round service without worrying about being frozen out as Heathrow returns to normal levels of traffic. JetBlue began it's London service last year, with flights into both Heathrow and London Gatwick.
The airline's next step is to ramp up service, adding Boston as a London destination August 5; the move had been planned to start earlier but was delayed waiting for delivery of more A321LR planes from Airbus. The Boston flight will use Gatwick, as will a second daily flight from JFK starting in October. In September, Boston will also get a Heathrow flight.
