JetBlue at JFK: A most unusual rooftop lounge

JetBlue likes to keep up its passenger-friendly image (despite imposing baggage fees this week) so it's not a big surprise that they've blazed a new path in airport amenities: a rooftop lounge on top of their Terminal 5 at JFK.

The space is open to all customers from 6 am to 10 pm, and is the only post-security outdoor space at a New York airport. It's designed to be sustainable and was built with sustainable materials. Among its amenities: a dog-walking area, seating, New York-centric food carts, native plantings, free WiFi—and views of both the Manhattan skyline and the landmark Eero Saarinen TWA terminal next door.

The opening was celebrated with a live concert by Brooklyn-based indie band Mainland; there will be a series of concerts over the summer. T5 has already been host to a number of indoor concerts. More detail on the rooftop and the music from JetBlue.
