Jaipur: A Place to Stay

From my limited travels in India, if I were asked where I would like to return, I would choose Jaipur. The famous walled capital city of Rajasthan is known as the "Pink City" since it was painted pink in 1876 as a sign of the people's hospitality towards the visiting Queen Victoria of England and the Prince of Wales.

As I have written in the past, accommodations are not always mentioned. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you about the 5-star hotel where I stayed when I visited this enchanting city: The Oberoi Rajvilas.

Spread over 32 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, it features traditional architecture, flaming torches, and reflection pools providing lovely and elegant surroundings. The lobby is beautiful, along with the library and other public areas.

My room featured a canopied four-poster bed, a window seat, a sunken marble bathtub, and a private courtyard.

In the evening, when I returned to my room, friendly words were spelled out with flower petals in from of my door.

Add to all this the impeccable service, including 24-hour butler assistance, and you can easily understand why this is the ideal hotel to stay at while exploring Jaipur.
