Hyatt says Hello to Kitty in China

A new Hello Kitty-themed theme park is set to open in Sanya on China's Hainan Island in 2024, and with it comes a Kitty-themed Hyatt hotel with 221 rooms and villas populated with the character and her friends.

The park will feature a variety of different theme areas, including the 'Egyptian' area seen above, as well as one featuring a cruise ship and another focused on a pink-and-purple castle topped with Hello Kitty's signature bow.

The hotel will include three restaurants, a bar, a spa and fitness center and even a Kitty-themed ballroom.

And for those who, like me, have always gotten it wrong: Hello Kitty is NOT a cat. According to Sanrio, the company behind the brand, she is a young British girl named Kitty White and lives near London.
