Once upon a time, what we now call 'street art' was 'mere graffiti and scribbles' bordering on 'vandalism.' Now it's collectible art, has stars like Banksy, and it's clearly no longer the work of daring individuals hanging over the edges of buildings to reach the target wall.
And, it's not exactly free-hand, either; these artists are working from sketches and are working for Global Street Art Agency, which describes itself as "an award-winning commercial mural and hand-painted advertising agency. We are a full service agency specialising in sourcing locations, in-house design, mural execution, logistics and photography and videography."
They claim over 2500 murals of various sorts in London alone, and say their work supports dozens of 'emerging artists.' And that's how street art is made!
