Hawaii: Get a goat, please!

Hawaii is holding a goat giveaway later this month, hoping to clear more than 700 invasive goats from its Puʻuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park on the Big Island.

The park, a place of cultural and historical significance, was a place of refuge for defeated warriors and taboo breakers. The goats have invaded, mated and multiplied and are now a major headache.

Hawaii's Division of Land and Natural Resources is taking applicants, and the lucky new goat owners will be drawn in a lottery on July 28. Be warned, though: You must have a truck or trailer suitable for hauling your goat.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
