Sometimes it is not just history that makes for a fun visit to a new location as there are many varied and exotic sights to be seen in the modern world! On this occasion back in July 2003, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of their favourite manufacturer, some 30,000 excited owners of Harley Davidson motorcycles converged onto the banks of Hamburg's modern harbour to spend a beery weekend of birthday celebration and generally good-natured mayhem.
Without exception every single one of their motorcycles is different in their customisation, paintwork and accessories. They are all, however, the gleaming pride and joy of their owners. The leather clad revelers partied long into the night out on the city streets accompanied by several loud and enthusiastic rock bands. Close by the normal inhabitants of this corner of Hamburg known as the "Reeperbahn" (best known for its, ahem, "night life") gazed on in equally exotic costumes of deshabillÉ at their new visitors. A great weekend!
