Gumbo's Pic of the Day, April 25, 2014: The Rewind Electrician

Toiling in his tiny back street workshop in the winding back alleys of Udaipur, in Rajastan, north west India, I came across this delightful motor rewind electrician who kindly allowed me to take his photo. As I was working in the world of electronics and printed circuit board manufacture at the time, my new friend's world appeared to be at the opposite end of my own working environment, even though our businesses both were essentially for the same purpose!

Only a matter of yards away from his workshop, and seemingly in a different world, is Udaipur's Pichola Lake in the centre of which was built the beautiful Lake Palace "Jag Niwas", now one of the world's most prestigious 5 star hotels and originally built as a summer palace in 1746.

Standing on the east bank of Lake Pichola is a massive series of palaces built at different times from 1559, the balconies of which provide panoramic views of the "Jag Niwas", the lake and the surrounding city.

I suspect this picture may stand as the best on this site for a long time, unless of course, Mac has another which beats it.

Mac, can you comment, please, on the lighting?  I'd very much like to know how you managed to get it so even.  Did you alter it or was it that good in the camera?
